Our team is coming off a fantastic week at Hadoop Summit, where we had great conversations around the future of Hadoop and how Platfora helps organizations realize the power of Big Data.
Kicking off Hadoop Summit 2013 last week, CEO and founder Ben Werther talked about the Big Data reservoir, and how Hadoop brings value to the enterprise. The Big Data landscape is changing as traditional BI and data warehouse tools are no longer sufficient to manage different types of data. Organizations are rapidly adopting Hadoop but are struggling with traditional databases and analytics tools. Today, we have a golden opportunity to leverage BI on Hadoop to unlock the business value of big data. Business users are no longer limited by the data model created by IT but can access the big data reservoir – all dimensions of raw data – to gain valuable business insights.
This year, we were excited to hear from a myriad of organizations that have implemented or looking to implement Hadoop into their infrastructure. In our panel, moderated by Silicon Valley Data Science CEO Sanjay Mathur, our own VP of Product & Business Development Pete Schlampp was joined by Paddy Hannon, VP of Architecture at Edmunds.com and Drew Hylbert, VP of Technology & Infrastructure at Opower, to discuss the trials and tribulations experienced during their analytics & BI journeys. Looking to capitalize on the promise of big data, they decided to take the plunge and adapt Hadoop with hopes to streamline business processes while reduce operational costs. Today, they are analyzing data quickly and efficiently on Hadoop, creating an agile, flexible infrastructure that transforms their raw data into interactive, high-performance business intelligence.
With Hadoop 2.0 on the horizon, the data reservoir will continue to grow as more types of data will be available for analysis and we are excited to see how our customers tap into their data to bring value to their enterprise.
Thanks to all those who joined us to make the conference a success!
